The spiritual authority you need to fulfill your call to ministry comes from God. The legal authority you need comes from being recognized by an ordaining body like the Acts 2 Network. Oh sure, you can download a document that says you are an ordained minister. You can hang it on the wall and point to it saying, “Hey, everyone look at that, I’m ordained!” But to fulfill God’s call on your life, you need more than spiritual and legal authority; you need relationships!

It is only in relationship that you find the genuine support, training and encouragement you need. That’s why being ordained through the Acts 2 Network begins with connecting you to a sponsor who is already ordained in the network. It continues as you make yourself available to form relationships with others in the network. In the process, you find the relationships you need and you become a part of healthy relationships that others need to. Along with that comes the legal credentials that are often required for performing weddings and other official pastoral functions.

Applying for ordination with the Acts 2 Network is a statement of trust that God has led you to live out your ministry in the context of authentic relationship with other pastors who are committed to restoring the church’s voice by restoring the dynamics of the original Acts 2 Church in our world.

The calling to serve as an ordained minister of the gospel is a high calling. It carries with it both, authority in the lives of those you lead, and responsibility to lead them with Godly integrity. We need one another to live in that high calling with integrity.

A2N requires four foundational requirements for ordination:

1. Experience: A2N pastors demonstrate a calling to, and involvement in, an area of ministry for which ordination is needed.

2. Education: A2N pastors have two years of ministry experience and ministry training. The training can be in the form of Bible College or Seminary or an approved, mentored self-study program. Existing A2N pastors complete at least four Continuing Education Units each year.

3. Giving: A2N pastors, including candidates for ordination, contribute half of their tithe to the Acts 2 Network; the remaining half going to the pastor’s local ministry.

4. Relationships: A2N pastors must be sponsored by a current A2N pastor and demonstrate ongoing community with other network pastors.

Applicants who do not meet these four standards may be granted “candidate status” for a period of two to five years for the completion of these requirements.

Please respond to each question thoroughly, using additional pages as needed.
