When Jesus returned to His Father He promised the Holy Spirit would empower a unified body of His fully-devoted followers to make disciples all over the world.  When the Holy Spirit came, a dynamic community of faith exploded on the scene.  This community of Spirit-empowered Christ-followers learned God's Word together, worshipped together and shared their resources with one another.

Acts 2:42-47 (NIV) paints a vivid picture of that early church. "They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.  Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles.  All the believers were together and had everything in common.  Selling their possessions and good, they gave to anyone as he had need.  Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts.  They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people.  And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved."

The result was that God worked among them to grow in maturity and size until they reached the known world in their life time! The joy and excitement must have been amazing!

So amazing it begs the question, could it happen again?  Could a group of fully-devoted followers of Christ unify their hearts around the dynamics described in this passage? If so, could the church dynamics described in the Book of Acts actually re-emerge in the 21st century?

The  Acts 2 Network is designed to provide a forum for church leaders, around the country and the world, who are committed to just that ideal. It's vision, mission and core values are designed to minimize political structures and maximize creativity, shared ownership and community.  It's focus is the proliferation of Acts 2:42-47 leaders, committed to reaching a harvest desperate for the Savior.  The goal is huge but simple, the Acts 2 Church in the 21st Century.
